Equipment Manager in London area

Our client is a leading UK based scientific consultancy, testing and inspection company. The team includes highly trained and skilled professionals including chemists, biochemists, environmental scientists and metallurgists with individuals holding industry specific qualifications and competencies in asbestos, hazardous materials, noise and vibration and safety. The company is UKAS accredited and has over 20 years experience on the railways, both London Underground and Network Rail. 

The company currently has an exciting opportunity for an Equipment and Facilities Manager who will be responsible for:

  • ensuring that sufficient equipment resources are available to fulfil work requirements, and that equipment is adequately controlled and maintained; 
  • repair and maintenance of company premises (at more than one location) including compliance with all current legislation relating to health and safety.

Company Equipment includes a variety of inspection, measuring, sampling and testing equipment for use both on site and in the laboratory. The remit of control also extends to company vehicles. 

Key Responsibilities

Equipment. Responsible for ensuring that sufficient equipment resources are available to fulfil work requirements, and that the equipment is adequately controlled and maintained.

Fleet & Driving Responsible for ensuring that sufficient fleet resources are available to fulfil work requirements, and that the vehicles are adequately controlled and maintained.

Premises Maintenance Responsible for ensuring premises including car parks, exteriors and welfare facilities, are kept in a good state of repair and appearance, in order to minimise risks to health and safety such that all activities are undertaken in an environment fit for purpose.

Fire & Security As a designated Fire Warden, ensure that all fire & security systems are regularly maintained and tested, appropriate records are kept.

Health & Safety Tasks Contribute to excellent standards of health and safety across the business. 

Manual Handling Provide a service to ensure equipment, supplies and materials are in place, and work activities can proceed as expected. 



Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (incl. English and Maths)

Full, clean UK driving license (essential)

Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, databases)

Qualification in a trade such as electrician, plumber etc. (desirable). 

Knowledge of basic health and safety legislation.

Competent at carrying out equipment repairs.

Competent at carrying out basic building repairs and maintenance. 

Use of small industrial/electrical/plumbing/mechanical equipment.

Able to prioritise tasks.

Experience in training would be an advantage.

Excellent communication skills.

Able to lift and carry heavy items.
