Field Engineer in Derbyshire

My client is now looking for a Field Engineer to join their team for both CNC and through-feed machinery due to continued growth and expansion.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Installation, commissioning and training of the machines
  • Fault finding and repair
  • Servicing of machines

Full training on specific machinery will be available where required


  • Experience in PLC programming, ideally structured text
  • Applicants should possess a minimum of HNC, NVQ level 3 or recognised apprenticeship within this field. 17th edition would also be advantageous as would existing experience within the woodworking industry.
  • Excellent communications skills coupled with the ability to be both organised and self-supervised are essential
  • As this is a customer facing role an excellent attitude is essential
  • A full clean driving license is therefore required. Profinet and Can bus topology
  • Knowledge of servo drives, stepper motors encoders, with the ability to monitor online and diagnose positioning errors etc
  • The ability to read Electrical drawings and circuits
  • Knowledge of electrical components, Pilz safety relays, contactors, transformers, soft starts, inverter drives
  • Computer literate with the ability to connect online on customer machinery and navigate through the electrical documentation to fix the fault. (reloading fixed data, transferring parameters, PLC input/output monitoring, parts identification etc.)

Ideally the successful candidates will be based in the Midlands area but will be required to travel around the UK to customers sites.

This role can involve working away from home up to 5 days a week. Any overtime is paid for and there is no weekend work involved.






£25,000 to £35,000
£33,500 + Overtime & Company Car
