Software Project Engineer in Paris, France

Our client is a leading scientific measurement and control instrumentation manufacturer specialising in metrology equipment, systems, and solutions for the environmental sector. Due to continued growth and expansion, they are now seeking a qualified and professional Software Project Engineer to join their busy European Operation based at their Paris offices.

In this important role you will provide the technical expertise and technical leadership for the design, configuration, and implementation for on-premises and cloud hosted meteorological and aviation software solutions. Working closely with both customers and internal stakeholders, you will lead the requirements review and refinement, and work with software development engineers to ensure that customer specific features and functionality are clearly identified and scoped to meet customer expectations. You will also procure and set up hardware and install and configure software, as well as being responsible for software testing, installation, and user training.

Key duties will include:

Identify and collate project specific scope and requirements capture and refinement. Work with the software development team to ensure the user story and the measurement of success metrics are captured and understood.

Contribute to the technical design of the project and ensure design meets the project remit and stakeholder expectations. Ensure the design is accepted and signed off.

Working with the project lead, coordinate the procurement set up and configuration of any required servers and IT hardware such as network switches, routers.

Undertake the installation and configuration of software for both on premise and cloud hosted solutions.

Undertake on site installation, configuration and deployment of hardware and software. This includes working with clients’ stakeholders to integrate the solutions within the clients IT infrastructure.

Lead the compliance testing and user testing phases, manage testing results, and feedback and undertake user and maintainer application training.

Work within the company defined project management process and use delivery tools such as Jira and tempo to keep track of progress and deliverables.

Attend meetings with clients and customers at all scheduled miles stones and project meetings.

Act as liaison between the clients and Product Team to provide Input and influence Products Roadmap.

Global travel could be up to 40% of your time. 

Candidate:

Qualified to degree level in either an engineering or computing field.

Experience in the aviation, environmental or renewables industries is desirable.

English and French language to a working level. Able to write and converse in both languages as well as translate to and from both.

An experienced software project engineer with a good understanding of architecture and all aspects related to software delivery cycle – Docker and Kubernetes, VMware, VCenter, VSphere, OS installation and od Configuration (RHEL, Debian, Ubuntu, Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 10/11).

Worked in a project environment and delivered projects in a software project engineering role where there has been a requirement for networking and IT integration knowledge and skills.

Able to configure, build, and install computer hardware, software, systems, and networks for project related IT system applications.

Experience in Agile Project management methodology – Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, V-model.

Experience with using Jira, Tempo and Zephy.

A strong customer focus and have experience working directly with customers and know how to develop and maintain professional and commercial relationships.

Willingness to travel within Europe and internationally when required. Travel could be up to 40% of your time.

Hold an EU Passport and/or have the rights to work in the EU.
