Our client is a global leader in the development of scientific measurement instrumentation for use in environmental, climate and present weather monitoring. Due to continued global growth and demand for their products this is an exciting time for the company as they reimagine their suite of software solutions including the architecture, features, and user experience. 

They are looking for a Solutions Architect (Software Architect) to join the Global Software Engineering Team. You will be part of a technical design team, consisting of other Solution Architects and Software Engineers, that lead the design and implementation of a range of software solutions. This is a hands-on role and therefore you must be a skilled software engineer. You will need to learn and evaluate technologies, deeply understand the company’s products and their architecture, collaboratively develop plans for evolving software solutions and assist and mentor others in technology deployments and troubleshooting. You will work extensively with a talented team of software engineers located in France in addition to the Director of Software Engineering and technical design team in the UK and, as such, you must work well with others and be willing to travel. 

Key Delivery Areas:

Working with Product Managers, and others to develop solutions aligned with market needs.

Providing technical guidance to the software engineering team relating to architected solutions.

Maintaining a hands-on software development capability, able to contribute as part of a scrum team.

Coordinating with other functions including Test and Compliance, Platform Management, Product Management, and Clients Services to deliver robust, well-crafted software solutions.

Maintaining a clear understanding of the wider software application suite, underlying platforms, and available tools including the extensibility framework.

Working to quickly resolve architectural blocking issues related to updated specifications to ensure the smooth delivery of solutions

Supporting the project tender process with effective architectural designs and solutions. 

Requirements:

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.

Experience in software development / software architecture design essential.

Broad technical knowledge sufficient to communicate with developers and other stakeholders at group presentations and through technical documentation.

Knowledge and experience of AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Microsoft Azure.

Knowledge and experience with a range of technologies such as Kubernetes, AKS/EKS, Knative, Kong, Kafka, Foundation DB, etc.

Excellent communication and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Analytical thinking, problem solving, and data-driven decision making.

Full Driving Licence and UK or EU passport.

Travel to Paris, France on a regular basis.
